Feasting plays a very important role in Mabon celebrations!

Let’s take a look at some common Mabon foods! And with all that food the Earth is producing at this time of year, there’s no reason to save it all up for just one night! Make every meal this season a sacred celebration to give thanks for the abundance and prosperity in your life.

However, this stuff can be a sensitive topic for some folks. Sometimes we don’t feel abundant, sometimes we are definitively not prosperous! And screw all that problematic Law of Attraction stuff, we can work really hard sometimes and the payoff doesn’t come. We can have false images of success pressed upon us, inciting our discontent. Capitalist society urges us to seek rewards and goals that are not authentically satisfying. But sometimes we simply lack even the basic needs.

We can still be thankful for the Sun, the Earth, the Air, the Water. The trees turning color, the birds migrating overhead, those breathtaking autumnal sunsets, the smell of an October night. We can be thankful for our bodies that move us from place to place, our lungs that draw breath. Thankful for our hands that touch and hold loved ones, our minds that are ever-seeking.

Pull back from the world and its false ear-markers of validation for a moment and simply be glad for life.

I included these foods and drinks on this list because either they are in season now for the Northern Hemisphere or are featured in the myths of deities and archetypes who feature prominently in Mabon symbolism:
