This week Stash Box is stepping aside to give space to a Seattle-based collective that is lighting the path to a new/old relationship with cannabis, art, and spirit. This is Women.Weed.Wifi , in their words.
Women.Weed.WiFi is an expansive, international, and intergalactic network of women-of-color artists that use our ancestral and learned knowledge, our melanin, spiritual guides, and natural talents to heal and teach about and through cannabis. We uplift and inspire one another to continue on our highest paths. We note our similarities and celebrate what makes us unique. We love marijuana and celebrate the glory of the female plant that, like us, brings beauty and peace to those we touch. Weed unites us, elevates us, and heals us.
Through our educational blog; our YouTube channel, including artist interviews and visual poems; our original DJ mixes, housed on our Soundcloud; merchandise; and specially curated events, we transmit different fragments of the message. We help brands and artists express their message creatively and help other groups looking to enhance their communities’ well-being; and for our peers, we host various events, like parties and intimate healing workshops, to provide inspiring and safe spaces for other young, creative people of color, often appreciated aesthetically in local and global culture, but just as often shut out or isolated in real-life creative spaces.
We are truly a DIY-based effort. We make magic from blueprints visualized during smoke sessions and brought to life with predestined determination. We make art from our own experiences, to reflect ourselves and those that support us. We emphasize taking care of ourselves, physically and spiritually, and doing the same for our community—those we’ve created and those we were born into. Where we are so often pushed out of sight, devalued, or told to be quiet, we proudly take up space and do it with grace. We represent women who work (not wish) for a better world, women who utilize their personal and ancestral pain to grow and heal, women who live above a sense of “good” or “bad” and simply walk in their truth with love and courage in their hearts.
Marijuana is the constant factor underneath all our varying projects and endeavors. We are connected to the plant on the professional level—from spending days slangin’ the finest herb—and the interpersonal—from the way the blunt, passed back and forth between our family, unlocks new creativity, unleashes emotions otherwise buried, and affirms our connectivity. Marijuana allows us to cross paths with many different movements and people, all finding something real in Women.Weed.WiFi.
We’ll leave you good people of Seattle with our current top five strains, based on our mood, the earth, and what’s been good.
1. Blue Dream—a classic, for exploring parks and hiking.
2. Cookies—recommended for summer midnight sessions outside a club.
3. Durban Poison—for lying out in the sun all day with your friends.
4. OG—when you need that creative and execution push.
5. Black Magic—a perfect Indica to end your day. Stretching is highly suggested with this relaxer.
